Strange Truth Whose Streets? 2017 Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis. Filmmakers Sabaah Folayan and Damon Davis know this story because they have lived the story. A conversation with filmmaker Sabaah Folayan will follow the film. STRANGE TRUTH is organized by Haverford College faculty Vicky Funari and John Muse, Visual Media Scholars at the Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities. Fresco Workshop with VCAM Philadelphia Artist in Residence Mariel Capanna: Saturday, April 7, 12-3pm VCAM Lower Create Space 006. This fresco workshop is a hands-on crash course in the technique of painting into fresh plaster, and will provide students a discursive introduction to the history of fresco painting as a site-specific, narrative, and symbolic form. Students will learn to mix and apply traditional lime plaster, to grind earth pigments and prepare fresco paints with distilled water, and to transfer drawn templates to a fresh plaster surface using pouncing techniques. Each student will design and paint a fresco “fragment” on a prepared wooden panel to take home. Panelists are: Amy Feifer, the Campus Liaison, who will give an overview of the fellowship and application process, Mariya Krutkova ’16 who will discuss her Watson experience and tips on the application, and Owen Janson ’18 who was recently was selected for a Watson Fellowship for 18-19, and will talk about the application process.
As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Women*s Center is organizing a staged reading on April 29th of Sensitive Guys by MJ Kaufman, a comedy about rape culture on a college campus. Healthy Mind/Healthy Body:Mindfulness Skills to Handle Stress and Life
This workshop will provide you with tangible skills to help you pay attention to your present-moment experience, allow you become more self-aware and less reactive, and increase your ability to manage stress. These skills will be introduced through the practice of mindfulness techniques, including sitting and walking meditations.
